Vinay is drawn to listening to music from all genres, and cultures from every corner of the world. He loves all instruments and has a deep respect for all music and musical endeavor. He believes this wide world view informs his compositions and playing. Vinay was originally born in India and lived there until his teens, and thus has had a varied set of influences in his musical development. Vinay writes for orchestra and other instruments as well as the guitar. He has been involved with music since an early age and played the Trumpet in a classical orchestra at age 8. Subsequently he ended up picking the guitar as an instrument of choice in his teens. After playing various styles initially Vinay fell in love with classical guitar after hearing a Julian Bream recording and it has spurred a lifetime of deep pursuit in music. The mystery of music ensnared him for life. He has studied guitar performance, music theory, analysis, improvisation and music composition. Vinay has studied with some prominent musicians privately and in master classes. During this time Vinay’s knowledge and love for classical music has been informed by great orchestral and instrumental composers and great classical performances. However Vinay also loves and has studied Jazz. He believes that one must step out of their comfort zone in order to learn and progress and he continually looks for opportunities to do so in all aspects of his musical life.
